Topics Cannot Be Viewed in Help Files Saved on Network Drive

When a compiled help (.CHM) file is saved on a network drive, topics in the help file cannot be viewed after installing Windows security update MS05-26. For example, if HotDocs or a template set is installed on a network drive, users attempting to access the help files may see the following error message: "The page cannot be displayed".


This problem was introduced by Microsoft when they released security update MS05-26. The following Microsoft Knowledge Base articles contain explanations of the problem, followed by solutions.
