A type of component that performs calculations or executes other instructions within the template. Computation variable scripts are created using HotDocs scripting language. Unlike text, date, number, true/false and multiple choice variables, computation variables do not accept direct input from the user.

Some of the common uses of computation variables are listed below:

  • Automatically calculate text, number, date, and true/false values based on answers a user enters and merge these values into assembled documents.
  • Create custom HotDocs interviews
  • Filter repeated dialogs
  • Control dynamic options in multiple choice variables
  • Create custom formatting for text and number variables

For examples of computation scripting, see the Scripting Examples category.
