Add Non-HotDocs Files to a Template Library

From HotDocs Wiki

Jump to: navigation, search

In addition to adding standard HotDocs files, such as templates, component files, and URLs to a template library, you can also add other files, such as word processor documents, PDF files, executable (.EXE) files, and compiled HTML (.CHM) files, just to name a few.

To add non-HotDocs file to a template library

  1. At the HotDocs template library, click the Add button. The Add Item dialog box appears.
  2. Click the Browse button. The Add Item File Name dialog box appears.
  3. Navigate to the folder that contains the file you want to add to the library.
  4. Click the File of type drop-down button and choose All File (*.*). The contents listed in the box change to include all files located in the folder.
  5. Choose the file and click OK. The Add Item dialog box appears again.
  6. Optionally, enter a Title and/or Description.

Now, when a user either selects the item and clicks Assemble, or double-clicks the item's icon, the application associated with the files launches and the file is opened.
